As part of the food supply chain we are committed to keeping the supply of fresh food available to all at this time. We are still operating at full capacity and if we can help you meet the demands of your business as it faces it's own challenges, please let us know. Whether that be the need for packaging to move your produce in or if you would like us to help you find seasonal workers for your growers, we will do our best.

If you have an advert, a tweet or linked in post looking for staff then email us or direct message us and we will add to our feeds.

Covid-19 update

As a valued customer of Produce Packaging and often the wider Hutchinsons Group, we appreciate the trust you place in us to make sure all of your product delivery services continue to operate effectively at all times and especially with the additional complication and impact of the risks posed by Coronavirus on all of our lives and businesses.

We are committed to an evidence-led and common-sense approach to containing the Covid 19 Coronavirus outbreak and mitigating its impact on customers, colleagues and our wider business operations.

Please be re-assured that we already have plans in place for our business with you to continue as normal with a high percentage of stock in each depot. We have operational continuity plans in place to minimise the risk of infection and make sure that we can continue to deliver business-as-usual service to our customers should an infection occur at any of our premises. These include implementing clear guidelines for colleagues, providing support and advice for anyone who needs to self-quarantine, and issuing guidance on following safe hygiene practices across the organisation. We have also implemented a social distancing policy in all offices and depots and are urging everyone to follow hygiene advice. Hand sanitisers have been installed in all offices and vehicles.

Many of our colleagues, including your representatives, work from home and have the technology to provide service continuation remotely if necessary.

As always, we remain committed to supporting your business with an unparalleled level of service and we pride ourselves that we are involved in UK food production, especially now with the critically important need to feed our nation. We will do everything that we can to support front-line growers and packers to provide safe and reliable food supplies through this difficult time.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with your normal Produce Packaging contact or the main office number and a member of our team will be happy to help.

As a business Produce Packaging do source some products from outside of the UK, The WHO (World Health Organisation) has issued guidance that the threat from the virus transmitting from goods originating from an area affected by the virus is negligible.

With regards our own contingency planning, Produce Packaging have the following controls in place;

-       We have for over 10 years complied with the BRCGS - Storage and Distribution  modules and so have clear procedures in place to 'reduce the risk of contamination'.

-       We operate from 4 regional sites, if one site were affected, we could operate from one of the other three

-       We hold a range of products and have increased our stock holding of those most seasonally demanded.

-       We have issued all staff with clear instructions as to what to do in the event of becoming worried about a possible infection, including the self-isolation directives in place.

-       We have issued key members of staff with laptops to enable them to operate from home and can divert our phones too.

-       We have issued all delivery staff with personal Hand sanitiser, (all offices and warehouses already have Hand sanitiser stations) and all office/stores staff with clear instructions as to how to wash hands correctly.

We hope the above reassures you of our ability to reduce the risk of any disruption in the supply of packaging materials. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Coronavirus COVID-19 statement

As we are all aware there is heightened concern over the potential threat to the UK food supply chain caused by the COVID-19 virus outbreak.

As a business Produce Packaging do not currently source product from any areas around the world where the virus has resulted in quarantine measures being implemented. Although we do bring product in from Southern Italy, the distance of this factory is almost as far away from the affected areas of Northern Italy as the UK is. The WHO (World Health Organisation) has also issued guidance that the threat from the virus transmitting from goods originating from an area affected by the virus is negligible.

With regards our own contingency planning, Produce Packaging have the following controls in place;

-       We operate from 4 regional sites, if one site were affected, we could operate from one of the other three

-       We hold a range of products and can increase our stock holding should a threat be recognised

-       We have issued all staff with clear instructions as to what to do in the event of becoming worried about a possible infection, namely that you should call 111 and subject to the advice given, not report to work

-       We have issued key members of staff with laptops to enable them to operate from home and can divert our phones too.

-       We have issued all delivery staff with personal hand sanitiser, (all offices and warehouses already have hand sanitiser stations) and all office/stores staff with clear instructions as to how to wash hands correctly

-       We have for over 10 years complied with the BRC - IOP Technical standard - Storage, Distribution and Wholesale modules and so have clear procedures in place to 'reduce the risk of contamination'

We hope the above reassures you of our ability to reduce the risk of any disruption in the supply of packaging materials. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

2019 UK Top Fruit season

We've had a great couple of days at The National Fruit Show, a big thank you to the show and all of our customers both long standing and new. All the latest innovation for the industry was on display and the fruit itself was beautiful. For all of us it's back to the hard work and dedication that makes our industry unique. Wishing you all a prosperous season.

Our focus is now on our burgeoning conversion department and maximising the opportunities it provides. We are producing a wide variety of machine erected cases for Top Fruit growers across Kent and the South East and would be delighted to discuss this range with you. Please do not hesitate to contact us info@producepackaging.co.uk for more information.

Annabel's Deliciously British

Annabel Makin-Jones has been running her family business since 2004 and has launched her 'Annabel's Deliciously British' brand for 2019 - supplying the highest quality strawberries from her own farm in Yorkshire. Annabel has chosen the Earthcycle pulp punnet and the Obeikan wooden box from Produce Packaging to compliment her dedication to sustainability (and is in the process of trialling biodegradable film lids). We wish Annabel all the very best of luck for her venture and are proud to play a small part in it. You can find outlets for Annabel's Deliciously British Strawberries and more of Annabel's story here.... http://www.annabelsdeliciouslybritish.co.uk/

Customer Choice

Eight in ten UK consumers want for more environmentally friendly packaging -  Mark Tierney, MD, outlines what Produce Packaging are doing to help businesses meet end-user 'wants'.

Customer Choice

An interesting article from today's Fresh Produce Journal. It highlights the UK consumers 'want' for more environmentally friendly packaging. For over 20 years Produce Packaging has been supplying many of our UK fresh foods customers with #compostablepackaging and #recylablepackaging in the form of moulded fibre paper trays and punnets. Our range is produced in Scotland by Cullen Packaging and is certified as Compostable. Plus this year we have a new range of Thermoformed Cellulose pulp punnets which are auto denestable and top sealable from CKF in Canada and again certified as compostable. Both ranges are also easily recycled in local authorities paper waste streams too. Call us on 01622 831 423 or visit our web site; www.producepackaging.co.ukIf you are ready to meet the 'wants' of your customers, the options are already out there to meet this growing demand.

New Ranges

Ap -mcp -rice

Over the last few months we have been working very hard to introduce new ranges to our already diverse product portfolio. Over the coming weeks these additions will be appearing on our website. We are pleased to be offering packaging solutions for Protein, Ready Meal and Bakery producers and packers across the UK.

Our Protein Trays are manufactured from RPET and as such are made from a minimum of 70% recycled content and are fully recyclable (not including any absorbant pad).

Our Ready meal Trays are both microwavable and ovenable, manufactured from CPET and perform from -40c to 220c.

Our flexibles range is also growing to cater for top sealing the above trays in addition to thermoforming films for on site tray forming.

Full details will be added to the relevant pages in due course but for the moment there is a summary of their features available using the above links or via the products menu on the home page.

Of course, if you have any requirements in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to help.
